Dromoland Castle is a 5-star Castle hotel in Co. Clare, with a history dating back to the 15th century. I designed an updated logo wordmark and a set of brand guidelines; including a colour scheme and typographic suggestions; to provide the property with a more refined and consistent visual direction. Due to the breadth of activity available at the estate, a set of sub brands were also created to compliment the overarching identity and to provide clarity to visitors and guests. The logo itself simply depicts a 4-peaked crown, representing the four turrets of the castle and easily identifiable as something that would have been worn by generations of Celtic royalty. The sturdy wedge serifs of the wordmark are based on the angle of the stonemason’s chisel visible in various places on the castle walls, reflecting the heritage and legacy of Dromoland Castle.
